One Year of Triumph – Condo life from the Inside
“Having recently passed our first year of occupancy at Triumph North, Martha and I reflected on the milestone and lifestyle change from always having lived in houses that we owned. Compared to the 4400 square feet of our last home, the Gala looks small on paper with only 1325 square feet. Friends asked how we would get accustomed to the difference in floor space, and now we have the answers. Once our children moved out we had a lot of empty rooms that we rarely entered, and we had a large lot that we had to maintain – all that grass, leaves in the fall from our trees (about 50 bags of raking), and the pool. A lot of concerns when we travelled on vacation, or cross-country to visit those of our children who live in Alberta and BC, and left the house unattended.
We actually live in and use more space in our condo than we did at our house. We’re free to travel when we want (ah – retirement), and stay as long as we want with the feeling of security that closing the door behind us, as we leave, gives us. We need to be mindful that all the common areas are shared with all the other residents so we have to be considerate with noise and treating everything with due care; but the amenities, from pool and fitness room to lounges are here, and cleaning staff look after them. And we’ve met and continue to meet new friends here. We made the right choice!”
