The Building

Situated directly across the street from Discoverie Condos, the majestic arch monolith is the absolute centrepiece of Mather Arch Park.
Built by the Niagara Parks Commission in 1939 the towering limestone arches, with their beautiful manicured surrounding gardens were erected on seventy-five acres of land donated by American citizen, Alonzo C. Mather, a wealthy businessman who developed the nearby International Peace Bridge.
Mather also made a significant financial donation by for the arches’ construction, as a tribute to the peace and friendship between Canada and the United States, and for the park’s arches to present itself as a grand gateway to Canada.
