This Fort Erie eatery in the Crystal Beach neighbourhood, opened in November 2023 and has quickly become a fave hotspot for Fort Erie locals and Buffalonians, who cross the border to dine here! Lucky residents of Discoverie Condos are only 16 minutes away!
In 2023, Rizzo’s House of Parm was named one of Canada’s best new restaurants.
The founder Matty Matheson is a much beloved Fort Erie local. Matheson is an extremely accomplished chef and restauranteur with a string of about a dozen other restaurants in Toronto (Matty’s Patty’s, Prime Seafood Place—which was given a nod in the Michelin Guide, Maker Pizza, Meat+Three, Fonda Balam and Ca Phe Rang among others). He’s also a cookbook author, has a clothing line called Rosa Rugosa, a cookware line, owns Blue Goose Farm, (situated in Fort Erie) which supplies his restaurants, a food label, plus a wine brand—served at Rizzo’s.
If that’s not enough, he’s also a TV personality, having appeared on VICE’s Munchies, It’s Suppertime and Dead Set on Life, along with several You Tube shows. Most recently he’s become a TV producer and actor and a Golden Globe and Emmy award-winner, who won for a series he co-produced titled “The Bear”, (airing on FX), it’s a comedy-drama about a world-renowned chef who returns home to take over his family’s sandwich shop after his brother’s death. Matheson’s character is Neil Fak, a handyman, who has known the main character Carmy Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) since his childhood. The show has developed a cult-like fan-following, due to a great cast, show premise and in part due to Matheson ensuring the restaurant scene’s antics are life-like. Those who have worked in the restaurant industry applaud the show for its charm, wit and accuracy.
Chef’s Kiss! Matheson is kissed after his acceptance speech, by one of the cast, overjoyed at their Emmy win for Best Comedy, which follows their 3 Golden Globe wins!
Suffice it to say Matty Matheson is on fire and Fort Erie is so proud of his success! We wouldn’t be surprised if Matheson gets the keys to Fort Erie for a day or better yet, a street named after him!
We digress. Back to why you should head over to Rizzo’s House of Parm!
